Lisa Nichols, founder and CEO of Motivating the Teen Spirit LLC, is a dynamic motivational speaker. She was a feature in Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”, and even though her English teacher thought she was one of the worst writers ever, Lisa has two book deals with the highly successful “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series.

Even though life may seem to be filled with negative thoughts, the positive thoughts of life are just as easy to conjure up with the right mind set. Negative thoughts are energy drainers that are quick to turn any positive situation into a dread in no time flat.

Negative thinking is like a disease. It eats away at the potential for pleasant thoughts and becomes more prominent the longer it goes unchecked. Long ago I was watching TV and a advertisement for the US Army came on, some of you might remember: “Be all that you can be! In the Army” Back then I didn’t think much of that phrase, nor did I ever use it.

Recently, I have rethought about that phrase, all because of a stroll.
I strolled along the mall, and as I passed a table for the army recruiter, I looked at the pamphlet. The cover was a bright green and positioned in the corner was a soldier in military gear. As some of you may recall that original commercial was the same thing, a soldier or two dressed in military gear. The recruiter looked at me. “Interested?”
He was a tall man dressed in an army uniform, on his chest were the medals and citations he had received through his time in the service. He stood proudly, his hands at his side, his smile genuine. He was a soldier.
Trained to have honor , loyalty and duty. Be all you can Be….. “Be all you can be?” I said, he let out a short laugh and smiled.
“I remember that commercial.” He said, still holding his soldier like discipline.
“Thanks, but no thanks.” I said, he nodded to me, still holding his smile.
I turned to walk in the mall and began to think, the army used “Be All You Can Be” why can’t that be true for other things. Take Network Marketing for example, it is like the army in many ways. In network marketing we learn what the basics of how and why it works, how to make things work, how to make contacts, how to make money, and run a successful business. Much like that soldier, learning the basics of military strategy. Like that soldier you crawl in the mud, you run into obstacles, you swing on ropes, you learn about strategy. Through the mud, and water, through all the obstacles. swinging on ropes, you persevere.
Our boot camp can seem just as tough, we generally have a tough time learning the basics, but through trial and error we get a greater understanding of our business at hand.
Then that one day, when all seems to be lost, when we have pushed the limits of our hearts, minds, and souls, it happens. The email, that you’ve always waited and hoped for, that message on your machine, asking you to call them back, that one offer that lets you know: “I Have Graduated from Boot Camp.”
Your hard work and perseverance has paid off, you’ve made the contact, and you’ve made that first bit of profit. While we don’t get any medals in network marketing, we do have one phrase that I think applies to us, just like the army: “Be All You Can Be.”

Through all those calls and emails you didn’t get, through all the ads in the paper that never got answered, you persevered , and got that one contact, that one email, that one call.

Your a soldier now, your in an elite force of individuals, who have committed to be by your side, and help you through the mud. They’ll be there when you need them, they’ll give you strength when you falter, they’ll teach you what it takes to be in the field, so you don’t lose focus, because they know what it takes. They know how to survive in this business, they know that without\ that commitment, if it falters or flees then the whole unit breaks down. They teach you and mentor you to stay the course, be strong, loyal, be all you can be. One phrase that denotes a search for excellence, one phrase that has seen American troops, serve our country with honor. Be All You Can Be in life, and Network marketing.

Is it because they are better looking? No! Its because the people who succeeded had a strong enough”WHY”. ‘Why” meaning they had a passion deep inside them that no matter what they will succeed! Their “Why” got them excited everyday to build there business. Their “why” allowed them to over come any obstacle that they faced along the way. People don’t realize that starting a business from home is simple,but not EASY!

Now how do you develop your why? First of all….. Look around you. Do you have a wife or husband that deserves the best? Do you have kids that deserve the best education? Are you constantly working in your J.O.B,that you have no time to see your sons baseball game,or daughters ballet. Do you have parents that are working in their “Golden years” and you want to retire them so they can enjoy the rest of their lives. If you have any of those things, or something similar then that is your “Why”! Your “Why:” has to be something that drives deep inside you. Write down your ‘Why” and Post it every where that you can see it. Tell someone about your “Why” so they can hold you accountable to it!

If you know your “Why” and you are committed to it. Then you will be UNSTOPPABLE!

But I knew deep inside that I had to overcome it. That my family deserves the very best and I knew that this vehicle that I chosen( Network Marketing) will get me there. Too many people begin  their Network Marketing career  thinking it will be a piece of cake.   That all that have to do is just tell their family and friends and then they will be rich.   That’s why their are so many people quitting the industry.  People are never told in the beginning that it takes work.  That they have to develop the skills that will help them succeed.   People have to realize that it takes time to develop them.   That they truly have people that are willing to show and teach them these skills.

I remember watching a movie a while back called ” A league Of Their Own” it is about a a group of ladies that were in a baseball league back  during the second World War.   These woman went thru  alot.   From people laughing at them and calling them names,and people not showing up for  the games.   But when people saw their dedication and desire they realize that these women were for real.   But  the scene that really touched me and made me think about what it takes to be in Network Marketing.   It was a scene between Tom Hanks ( Jimmy Dugan) and Geena Davis (Dottie Hinson) character.  Geena Davis’s  characters husband just got home  from the war. So she was going back to her farm.  Their team was about to go to the Women’s World Series.    So during the scene, Jimmy was telling Dottie that if she quits,then she will regret it for the rest of her life and that she doesn’t realize how great she is.  Then Dottie says to Jimmy it just got too hard. Jimmy responds…..  “Its has to be hard,if it weren’t everyone will be doing it.”  Its the HARD that makes it so great!”   Just like in Network Marketing….. If it was easy, everyone one will be doing.  Its the struggles you have, the leadership skills you develop,people laughing at you,people telling you that it wont work.  Its all of  it  that makes it so GREAT!

He is telling him either to stick and move,throw more lefts,go to the body etc. The corner man is the most important person the boxer has,because he can see everything that goes on in the fight. Its all up to the boxer to follow instructions. Not all corner man gives the right instructions,that is why you see boxers constantly changing their corner man. Corner man is also the person that tells the boxer not what he wants to hear,but what he NEEDS to hear. For instance, I remember watching a fight between “Sugar” Ray Leonard and Thomas”The Hit Man” Hearns. Both were champions in that division,the were fighting to unify the title. It was a great fight, but Hearns looked like he was taking it over. Then in Leonard’s corner you hear Angelo Dundee( Leonard’s corner man) telling him ” Your blowing it kid!”, Your blowing it kid”. Leonard when out there the next round, and TKO’d Hearns. The next fight that fight Leonard had was against Roberto Duran. Now Duran is a much harder puncher then Hearns. Angelo Dundee kept telling Leonard don’t stand toe to toe with him. But Leonard didn’t listen,and what happened? “Sugar” Ray Leonard lost his first fight. In the rematch against Duran,Leonard did listen. Guess what? He won! All the great champions have a good corner man. That is what separates the winners and the losers.

The same goes to people building a business. Whether it be Network Marketing,or a traditional business. You have to have someone “in your corner” telling you want you NEED to hear,not what you want to hear. Someone that will be with you thru ups and downs. Someone that will encourage you and help you bring out the greatness within you. Don’t just listen to anybody! Listen to people that has been successful. Someone that is where you want to be!

Surround yourself with as many of these people and you will have the success that you deserve!

In the rematch against Duran,Leonard did listen. Guess what? He won! All the great champions have a good corner man. That is what separates the winners and the losers.

The same goes to people building a business. Whether it be Network Marketing,or a traditional business. You have to have someone “in your corner” telling you want you NEED to hear,not what you want to hear. Someone that will be with you thru ups and downs. Someone that will encourage you and help you bring out the greatness within you. Don’t just listen to anybody! Listen to people that has been successful. Someone that is where you want to be!
